Plaintiff, a 51-year-old woman, was riding her bicycle with her husband north on Granby Street in downtown Norfolk. Two vehicles were approaching her in the opposite direction, a small pickup truck followed by a sports car driven by the defendant. The evidence was disputed. Plaintiff said the defendant pulled out into her lane to pass the pickup truck. She said she applied her brakes and went over her handlebars to her left and into the oncoming lane. She was run over by the pickup truck, not the defendant’s vehicle. The defendant denied entering her lane.
